So far i have not been able to compile minetest on OSX. (Maverick)

However, the windows build runs flawlessly in wine (macports) and is for me the easiest way to enjoy the game.

However,
When i run Minetest, it shows OpenGl 2.1 in the top windowbar.

Is this the default version for OpenGl for Minetest, or should i spend more time trying to compile a native version for OSX to get a higher OpenGl version, and does that have noticable improvements in visuals/gameplay??

My macbook Air should at least be able to run OpenGL 3.3, and maybe even 4.1.

OpenGL is determined by DRIVERS (updating for Mac doesn't have a known update) and no, the game is stating that the Mac OpenGL renderer is version 2.1 of the API.

The only thing you can do is wait until the developers work out how to port the game properly to Mac OS X.

If you have dev experience and the know how of compiling stuff, PLEASE work on fixing the Mac build. I will thank you from the top of my heart, because the bottom is a dark and evil place where you would not like to go.
