Can anyone tell me of a program that converts png to img files. I would like to post some pics but am unable to.

P.S. It would be nice to have a photo gallery heading or have I missed it somewhere.

It's not called "converting" It's called "uploading" I would suggest imgur or tinypic for that.

Uh, to upload images,

1. Go to imgur.com
2 (OPTIONAL) Make an account.
3. Click Upload.
4. Select the file from your PC
5. Upload the file.
6. Click on the picture once it is uploaded.
7. Select and Copy the URL or the website link (Something like "http://i.imgur.com/blah")
8. Type
Your phone or window isn't wide enough to display the code box. If it's a phone, try rotating it to landscape mode.
Code: Select all
[ img ] [/ img]

Without the spaces between the brackets.
9. Paste the URL you copied within the img tags.
10. Submit your post

It should look like this:

Your phone or window isn't wide enough to display the code box. If it's a phone, try rotating it to landscape mode.
Code: Select all
[ img ] http://i.imgur.com/xEblxiz.png [/ img ]

I do have an Imgur account. Was just wondering because when I try to add a photo attachment it says can not use png files. Only img files.

.img is not even a file format.
You are not supposed to use the forum to host images, that is why it does not allow you to attach images.

The .img filename extension is used by disk image files, which contain raw dumps of a magnetic disk or of an optical disc. Since a raw image consists of a sector-by-sector binary copy of the source medium, the actual format of the file contents will depend on the file system of the disk from which the image was created (such as a version of FAT). Raw disk images of optical media (such as CDs and DVDs) contain a raw image of all the tracks in a disc (which can include audio, data and video tracks). In the case of CD-ROMs and DVDs, these images usually include not only the data from each sector, but the control headers and error correction fields for each sector as well.

This shows my learning curve.

What I would like to know is where can I post pics from Minetest? Minecraft forums allow it,,,,Survivalcraft forums allow it....
Reason being photos give ideas to others and also encourage people to try the game.

Okay I found a reddit link. Are photo posts allowed there?

I don't even know where to begin.
1) .img is a disk image (read: computer table of contents) file used on boot drives and floppy discs. In short, it is not an end-user image (read: picture) file format. Common image file formats include .jpg, .png, .bmp, .tiff, and .gif.
2) imgur accepts .png. I don't know where you got the idea that it doesn't.
3) If you're serious about image conversion, try GIMP with the plugin David's Batch Processor. Or just open it in MS Paint or whatever and re-save/export as the filetype you want. I guarantee you you will NEVER need to or find a program that requires a .img file.
4) The sentence "This shows my learning curve" is wrong in multiple ways: a learning curve is the difficulty at which something is learned, not the rate at which a person learns. Secondly, how much pretentiousness did you intend to exhibit? Did you really feel the need to overplay what was obviously a copypaste paragraph from Wikipedia?

For starters, no pretentiousness was either implied or stated. The copy/paste was showing my ignorance to .img files. Yes I am trying to learn about file formats and extensions and I thought I read that to post photos on this site, that they had to be in this format. I did not understand. It was later posted by a moderator that photos were not allowed.

Imgur was recommended to me by another member. No idea where you got your statement 2) from.

Yes I do have Gimp and I am trying to learn that as well.

As for statement 4 I am fully aware of what a learning curve is. For you to assume my ignorance is beyond me. I will be 51 years old and have been around the block a few times. I have a BS Degree in communications as well as have been a production supervisor for Hewlett Packard Computers under the company title of SCI some time ago.

I do appreciate you trying to help but roasting someone over a pit is no way to go about it.

I agree. People here are too quick to burn people alive who ask simple questions.
