Adfly and similar services

Some of us who like to develop mods want some money for our effort, for hardware upgrades, or something like that, without having to force people to pay or set up a donations button that will just be ignored by everyone. There is the option of a service, for example, Adfly, that makes users wait a few seconds, displaying some stupid ad, before proceeding to the actual page for a download or something. For Adfly, it takes 10,000 clicks to give the developer $5.00, which is not much, but it's still something.
My question is if it is okay to use Adfly or alternative services for download links and such. Although I see no reason why such would not be allowed, I have decided that it is best to ask first.

You should be able to use it, for it has been done before.

Thank you for the information. I will look into using linkbucks, if all else fails.

Ehm, if you really want your $5, then you need about 50 clicks from every active forum user.

Fine. The information about adfly and such will be remembered for the future, when more people come to download mods and such.

adf.ly and linkbucks are *known* to distribute malware to unsuspecting users, and whoever posts a link, I'll follow it through and REMOVE the adf.ly link in place of a forum upload.

Do not be rude. You're a moderator. People look up to you as an example of what to be around here. Being a bad example will ruin the community.
As for your information, it has been noted. Do you happen to know of a safer alternative?

Nein. Adfly is a security and privacy risk, please avoid using them. On top of that, you're getting very little money for the time spent setting it up (several dozens of minutes). If you really need to use them (I doubt it), then provide a non-adfly link.

If you want money for working, do something else, or ask for donations (cryptocurrency or not), or use a "pay what you want system". A "pay what you want system" is more likely to be looked at than a donation button, so you can try that. Different wording can change everything.

You are allowed to sell mods, but you will have to allow redistribution at least, by the users who bought it, in order to publish it on this forum.

Thank you for the information. I will avoid Adf.ly, and look into this "Pay-what-you-want system" that you speak of. I have already researched it a bit, and it appears to be a better alternative to the donation system. You have been very helpful; thank you.

Also, I suggest putting up a donation button. This is the least intrusive method to get money from your mods.
