You're using an external site instead of the in-forum poll system just because you “don't like it”? The poll system here allows multiple choices and vote changing.

Also, please use the Edit button instead of double-posting.

I chose other because I like to go into water and dig my way into stone. Go far back and then start building your base. You need to go far enough back so torches/lanterns wont show any light out through the entrance. Makes it very hard to find unless someone digs right into it but you could always build a roof of lava and most will go around it when they see the lava.

I don't entirely get the point of secret bases. Once you start on a server, you'll need a place for a couple of locked chests which will contain what you collected for building and crafting. While such an untidy pile of locked chests does not look very beautiful and is best placed somewhere where it's unobtrusive, there's no need to specifily hide it either.

As for buildings that try to imitate a secret base: Don't make them too secret. If nobody ever finds it, where's the point?
