Hi, some days ago i where reading the MT forums and i found one that was referring to another game: Minetest-Classic (now Voxelands) that is a ''classic'' MineTest version; this was made because of they think MineTest is a ''nofun'' game cause you need mods to enjoy it at max (i dont now how much tedious is to drag a folder to another).
I look at its forum and i found this one: Forum
Basically they say that MT-Classic is a version of MT that does NOT need Mods to be fun; and that haves a lot of things that MT ''dont have'' (they think that but MT already has those); so i think that we need to say them that MT has all those things in it.
They aso say that in MT you need a pick for everything and the other tools dont matter.
Also that they have a tool for rotating items (MT have the screwdriver, but they didnt notice that) and BUCKETS for picking up liquids (MT has it too)
Also that the MT-Classic haves nodeboxes instead of sprites (thats wrong bro)

(Sorry if it sounds aggressive but it is based on MT)

Somebody can go there and say that MT has all those things?

Dragonop, it was created by some of the core devs. It is not a rip-off. And no, minetest does not have all the stuff it has by default.

I now that it is a game created by some of the core developers; and i now that some stuff is not in MT.
Also MT-Classic is not a rip-off;

I am just sayng that somebody has to say they to edit that post.

Sorry about that, I didn't quite understand that was what you were trying to say. Still, it's their website, and they can put what they want on it. Although you might want to say something to darkrose.

It wasn't created by some of the core devs, it was created by darkrose.

Have you actually played Voxelands/Minetest-Classic?

Sure, that's part of it.

Voxelands has things Minetest doesn't, Minetest has things Voxelands doesn't; that's pretty much inevitable.

Nope, say that in Minetest most players only use a pick, because the other tools don't add extra value to the game. In Voxelands, they do.

We don't say Minetest doesn't have them, we only say that Voxelands does too.

It's physically impossible for me to be your bro. Also, it's not wrong; I'd show you with screenshots, but I really can't be bothered hunting down whatever's needed to turn Minetest into a playable game - unless you want screenshots of the minimal game, you know the one actually included with Minetest; the default.

Of course it's not! Voxelands updates, on average, once a month.

It's a fork, of course it's based on Minetest. But then, as chunks of Minetest were done by me, you could also say that Minetest is based on Voxelands.

Better idea, I'll come here and let you know that Minetest doesn't have all those things, Minetest also doesn't have:
Smooth lighting on nodeboxes / special shaped nodes.
Diagonals: fences and walls (also new to Voxelands), which join together diagonally, not just at right angles.
Plus the roof nodes allow for properly sloped roofs, which form automatically to the correct shape: slope, inner corner, outer corner, capping, T and X sections.
An integrated farming system, not just a mod added to the world. Parts of the farming code effect other areas of the world, such as plant growth, additional wild food items, and wild drops such as mush from rotten apples.
The snow biome, which adds snow, snowmen, a 'cold zone' up high that requires you to stay near fire to avoid getting hurt by the cold, and conifer trees which give a different wood that can be used to make...
A range of furniture to decorate your house with; tables, chairs, couches, beds, as well as carpets, tiles, and paintings to bring rooms to life.

But regardless, play the game you find most fun; Minetest, or Voxelands, or both!

That IS the wonderful thing about open source. Everyone can take the code and make their own variation. More forks just indicate a healthier open source environment. They shouldn't be a cause for jealousy or argument, but much joy!

Though the result usually is third-degree butthurt. But yeah, there's no point in forcing people to work together when they want to take a project in different directions. You just end up arguing more than getting anything done.

I guess that's true; maybe I didn't understood the whole; but is cause my mother languaje is spanish, not english.
¿Have you considered to help with MT development to make a exelent game instead of two good games?

Yep, I played it like 4/5 hours in both: Survival and Creative.

Dragonop, darkrose used to be one of the biggest developers for 0.3 and early 0.4. A lot of the work he did is visible in 0.4.10. He still ports fixes from voxellands/minetest classic to Minetest, iirc. He stopped becoming a full time devolper because he dislikes the engine aim of 0.4

It reallt annoys me when people say 'you spent so much time on the fork, why don't you work on the actually one' especially when they do work on the actual one. Some said this about FM.

I know, but darkrose's fixes concerning nodeboxes (diagonal sides and smooth lighting) have not been added to Minetest.
