I just want to tell this to people who might understand... I've been playing since alpha, but due to a crap internet connection I've never really played multiplayer until very recently. I got invited onto a new server about a week ago. I was having great fun. Having other people sharing the world really adds a new dimension to this great game. I built a secret base on a desert island, meet a couple of other players and went exploring, built a fancy bridge across a river valley, etc. On Saturday it was raining outside so I spent pretty much the whole day online. I started a big a-frame lodge project which was coming along nicely. Anyway to make a long story short... I logged back in that evening, just to relax and play with some blocks some more, and it turned ugly. Real ugly. Real fast.
First thing I know, someone chats "welcome back myname". I say Hi. Then I get shot and killed by one arrow. Wtf. I respwan and am instantly teleported back to where I died. I pick up my stuff and I'm about to ask what happened when I am teleported to a jail cell with two admins. They tell me to "Sit". I ask what I have done. They throw a few questions at me like "where did you get the diamonds?" which is a weird question considering players chests are private leaving only one way to get diamonds, mining them. They then tell me "you did the crime, now do the time". I ask again what did I do? No answer. They then teleport me and several other players to my base. I tell them I don't know whats happening and since this really isn't fun, I'm leaving. I figured I'd come back in a few hours when everyone has calmed down and can tell me what is wrong. When I tried to log on later, I guess I had been banned.
I still don't know what I did. I guess someone had been greifing, and since I was there almost all day, they assumed it was me. Other players had popped in and out during the day and I didn't take much notice.
I never realised how awful this game could turn (to be fair it's the people, not the game, but you get my drift). It really hurt to be treated that why. It was fucking traumatising. I feel terrible that those players who's company I had enjoyed now seemed to hate me and I don't even know why. I can't even talk to them now.
