I'm risking being flagged but... Isn't it enough to say that Minetest is not Minecraft? Lets use this opportunity to part waters and each go its separate way.

I would at least like an in-game texture changer. I noticed I can start a game with one texture, then log out. Then change the texture and log back in. So couldn't there be a side menu where you could pick a different texture pack in the menu and it just redirect where it loads the texture pack from? It's just a thought

Oh ok, I just wanted to point out that while I like both, I prefer Cisoun's over the two. I should reread my own posts before posting, that was a bit more demanding than I intended it to sound.

I vote for the Default textures.
The current textures are part of Minetest's identity and they aren't that awful anyways.

But if they must be changed, I would choose Cisoun's Texture Pack as a worthy replacement.

Another method is copy pasting the best textures from a couple of similar styled packs.

I'm very glad this topic exists. IMO, the current default textures are really not the best, and make the MT world look rather bad for me. I took a look at the other texture packs, and I believe my vote goes to Almost MC.

My only objection with this texture pack is that grass (and possibly dirt too) could be less sharp and have less contrast. The grass looks like it has too many white spots on it. Also, I believe the Cobblestone and Mossy Cobblestone textures could be better. Other than that, I believe that is the best alternative at the moment.

Cisoun's pack would be my second favorite. But I don't believe some of its textures are as fitting for defaults, so I can't say I vote for it. Would however be nice if SOME textures from that package could be used over the Almost MC ones (such as the grass and torches).

I love textures from Ardorcraft there are under a MIT licence so no problem to use it!
You can find them in the ardorcraft API but the format is not good so i cut them. You can find textures here if somebody wants to make a 16x16 texture pack with it.

Free software exists to share so why not use it for MT? Ardorcraft is just an API it doesn't need a particular visual style (and Ardorcraft have already differents sets of textures) but MT needs one!
