FOSS gamedev and creative worlds

So as you all know, Doctor Who is awesome, And so is one of it's most natorius baddies, The Daleks! Now I have seen the varius minecraft mods out there for Daleks, Could this be feasable for minetest? I am planning to tackle this but if anyone wants to help feel free. I need some help with models, I tried making the models in Blender but it has issues when i try to put it in a mod. can anyone help?

Yes, it is very possible. In fact, there are many mods out there that use blender meshes. The only thing is, you really have to know how to use blender, which is not an easy thing. If you talk to Jordach or Evergreen, you might get somewhere. I myself am using blender and getting to know the reigns, but I don't know that much yet. I am still learning the shaping of objects and such.

There are some scripts that allow you to export as a .b3d file, which is able to be used in minetest. Anyhow, browse around in the modding general, general discussion and offtopic sections, and you should be able to find a good topic which should help.

Oh, and I support your idea fully, and I'm sorry I can't give you the help with blender. Although I will say this, you just have to look around a bit.

Don't talk to me, talk to Jordach. I don't know very much about blender. (well, at least not as much as I'd like to) I might be available for help on this type of thing sometime in the future though.

Hey Guys. Thanks for all the advice. I am at the end stages of Blender noob, I am certainly not a proffesional. But Im not gunna let that keep me from trying, Till I can get the Model worked out, does anybody know if Pilzadam's Simple Mob API has had an update? if so I hope to use it for the script. Im thinking of the Dalek being able to shoot "arrows" that look and sound like Lasers, and deal lotsa damage. just some ideas thanks again! :)

I'm in the contest!!! I'm going to make my own model.

Ok im not going to be able to work on this for a couple months becouse i have let my grades slip and i need to bring them back up :( sorry. but while im gone feel free to make your own model! When I get back Im going to collect all the models and have a poll to see which one the community likes best! And that model will be included in the mod! till then happy modeling!
