Minetest Mod DataBase is a database for all your minetest
mods &
texturepacks.
This Post explains how you use it.
Using the Website
- Visit https://forum.minetest.net/mmdb/
- Log in using your forum credentials (you might already be logged in if you were logged in in the forum)
- Click everywhere, write comments, rate
- Success
- Give feedback
Adding A Mod
- Visit https://forum.minetest.net/mmdb/addmod/
- Fill in all the fields:
- Title: more-or-less random title for your mod (ex: My Wonderfull Mod)
- Basename: The ingame name of your mod, this is also the name of your modfolder and the node-definition prefix(ex: wondermod)
- Description: Describe your mod, you may use Markdown
- Link To Repository: !cloneable! url to the repository (hg or git) you are using (ex: https://bitbucket.org/iqualfragile/wondermod). Having no repository is not a problem at all, just create one, its free.
- License: Choose the License the mod is using (ex: WTFPL)
- Categories: Put your mods into some categories, this makes it easier for users to find)
- Dependencies: Choose which mods your mod needs to run
- Soft Dependencies: Choose mods which expand the functionality of your mod but are not needed to run the mod
- Titlepic: Ignore for now, Picture which represents your mod
- Click Save
- Add a Version of your Mod for users to download; read rules below!
- Add some pictures so users can take a look at your mod
- Edit your mod and choose an uploaded picture as Titlepic
- Success!
- Give Feedback
Downloading Mods in Minetest
- Start Minetest
- Open "Mods" tab
- Click "Download"
- Choose mod
- Click Install
- Press Esc to exit the menue
- Success!
- Give feedback

Rules for Mods
- No inappropriate content (nsfw&snufstuff)
- No Material you are not allowed to use/distribute (minecraft textures etc)
- No Modpacks! (there are some rare exceptions like mobf)
- No bulkfiles (screenshots, logfiles) inside the archive
- No malicious code
- No .rar or other proprietary archives (.zip prefered atm)
- The mod needs to work, obviously
Things to do
- Add Subgames to mmdb
- Fix gallery displaying gray square if there is only one picture (jeija)
- Improve minetest client (sapier)
Please
suggest categories, I think that the actual mod authors are better at finding some that make sense then I am.
Name any Licenses you need added.
