FOSS gamedev and creative worlds

I'd like to give the people that play on a local Minecraft server the ability to play Minetest together instead.

"Minetest Game" lacks mobs (and perhaps other things?), so is there a subgame that gives a full v4.14 Minetest experience and plays like a full sandbox survival game? (not hardcore survival)

Voxelgarden sounded good but is v4.13. Perhaps this makes no difference?

(I like how Minetest doesn't exactly copy Minecraft, and my target audience already has Minecraft accounts anyway, so I don't need something like MineClone that tries to be block-for-block exactly like Minecraft)

Depends on what you want to play? Building? PvP? Singleplayer survival?

For building just add everything that adds new nodes, plants and other stuff. PvP doesn't need much. But for singleplayer survival Minetest lacks a lot of good stuff
