[Sugg] Minetest for Windows Phone 8.1

Hi evreryone,will you release Minetest for Windows Phone in near future ? I love this game so much,but i would like to see it on Store (i'm begging you) . Game is awesome and better than Minecraft but we Windows Phone users will be happy to play it on our phones :) I hope to see it soon and thanks for taking a consideration :)

There are no plans of Minetest for Windows Phone.

The reasons are similar to iOS: hostility towards free/libre software and important development time for such small platforms.

That sucks i mean develop for Android and not for iOS and WP is dumb,it takes some time to develop game but popularity will be increased. If you don't want you don't have to.

We legally can't develop for wp or iOS. We do want to, and it's not dumb. We don't care about popularity, we care about making a game we will enjoy.

The App Store doesn't allow LGPLv2.1+ as far as I know. Maybe it's also disallowed in the Windows Store.

Either way, I'm not sure whether there is a good iOS/Windows Phone Irrlicht port (the 3D engine we use).

(Before you ask, no: we can't change license or graphics engine easily.)

I dont know, but there could be a opensource store clone like f-droid on android which allowes to use the GPL. But can you use c++ on windows phones? I think we'll need this to use the minetest engine. If you make a version for windows phone one of my friend s can help with the testing
because he is the owner pf a windows phone. Can you install apps from a file (like .apk on android)on windows phone? Of yes we dont need to use the store. We could use minetest.net/download.

You can't use APK on Windows Phone because it's using .xap / appx extension, but you can port app from Android to Windows Phone. Craftworld is also open source (i think) and it's available on Windows Store. Developers license for Windows Phone Store isn't free it cost 19$ (for Android is 25$). However, some users can't download xap and install local apps for some reasons (like me).

Actually there's option to install local apps,download xap/appx file from your site to root of SD card and install it ! ;) I forgot to mention that sorry. You can port from Android to Windows Phone. Xap format is recommended.

Is this game written in C++ ? If that so,it would be much easier to port becuae all Windows are apps in written in C++ so no rewriting code is required :)

It doesn't matter how easy it is, if it doesn't respect GNU LGPL then we can't legally do it.
