i have a suggestion: why don't you use launchpad for translations of minetest? i believe that this would be useful to add new translations to the game and to improve them

The thing with using
Launchpad for translations is that translators have a nice web interface and don't need to mess around with files and git.

Does minetest have russian translation already? And full support of unicode?

Characters are represented by 16 bits, internally, most of the time, so no characters > U+FFFF for us. :(

That's bad. Even minecraft has unicode now (or not unicode but something multilingual).

minetest only has a few thousand players, minecraft has millions and the guy who makes it gets paid, but it is weird that most of the developers are from countries other than England but English is the main language. Minecraft even has a deal with one of the main cell-phone service provides, and is featured in television commercials. And they only have unicode?

Most of the Unicode in use should work.

As I recall, minetest's font doesn't support cyrillic. I don't know where they got such a font, but it's very strange.
