FOSS gamedev and creative worlds

I have for a while been learning Japanese. I was wondering If there was anyway to type in another language in Minetest. When I use my Japanese IME(Input Method Editor) in game, I still see it type in English.
For instance I wished to type: 「大丈夫ですか?」 in English this is "Are you ok?" .
When I typed this out I was given:
"daijoubu desu ka?"
I run linux kubuntu 16.04, I am using Fctix as the Input manager.

I need know that also... Would be wonderful if I could learn some japanese while playing minetest...

I tried previously your mod but theres no katakana, hiragana and kanji on the 2nd msg on my minetest...
: / It's a problem with fonts I guess?

What version you are running?
PS: I tried "/japanese_input true" first just ignore the "/japanese_input on" and others
PSつ： Probably is a font problem... I will try manually replace to a font with kana support...
