FOSS gamedev and creative worlds

Wow, do they really make a huge hit on FPS.
They are all great mods but, I feel their spawn rates should be lowered considerably by default? I have a map where I added plantlife, and other plants mods and they have overtaken the world..., kinda like "Life after Humans" series :P
The world is barely playable with all the lag and stuttering (sometimes freezing).
While I realize the settings can be changed, would it not make sense to have them considerably low from the start, taking new comers into consideration who may not know they can be set, or may not even know how or may not like to have to do so?
It is nice to have all the plants, etc., but not when they begin to grow out of control. For instance..., poison ivy is simply nuts!, Second in place is sunflowers..., and so on.
I also realize I can remove each items I do not like but, it is something I'd rather not have to do. Especially when you are left with unknown nodes everywhere (which I also know can be dealt with) but then again... why should an end user have to figure this out or learn the hard way?
So, I guess what I am asking is..., would it be too much to ask of those who handle such mods, plantlife, along shore, sea plants etc..., to tone down the growth rates by default? Rather then leave it up to end users to have to figure out or learn about etc?
This is only a thought, and a suggestion. I think all these mods are great, and I am only saying this out of my own observation and experience using them.

Note that moretrees and plantlife are very complex and slow generating mods, that might be partly what you are noticing. Make sure to use 'opaque leaves' in settings, this will help with FPS.

I never used the opaque leaves setting, I'll try it.
I usually do not use any special settings unless I want to take a screenshot to show what I have built. I find it much better to use no special options during building or (just recently actually getting into the game-play itself)
