Elevator-Building: How to build a passenger-elevator?

Dear Forum, this is my very first post anywhere, actually.

I have a, my guess is, very often asked question and maybe also already been answered thoroughly.
Tell me if thats the case please and, if you would be so kind, point me to the article or tell me yourself.

As the title signalizes, I try to build a mechanical passenger-elevator, like the folks at minecraft do it with RedStone.

A short overview over what I have and know (so that we can skip the standard-questions):

- I am using minetest 0.4.14
- I have several years of experience with minetest, in general
- For this endeavor, I am using the latest Mesecons-Mod
- I am fairly familiar with circuitry and the Mesecons-Features, in general.

From here on, it gets critical:
- I have already build the elevator. Even streamlined its structure, to make it more compact. It works. In diverse designs.
+ BUT: Only as cargo-elevator. Only for BLOCKS !
+ Player fall trough, as soon as the first piston pushes up.
+ It works, however, sometimes, if the Player, is no really recoginzed as player. If he is in a minig-cart, for example.
+ Also, if you stand right at the edge of the piston, it can push the player up, once.
+ Finally: In minecraft it works, so it may have something to do with the ingame-player-mechanic.

Do you know a solution to this phenomenon?

Please help me! Any hint is useful! Any idea!
If this can be solved, I will finally be able to finish my personal Mega-Project "Palace of the Soviets", of which I have already finished most the exterior and parts of the interior, but without passgenger-lifts it is not very pesuasive as realistic representation (Yes, I have build it in near-original size!: http://russiatrek.org/blog/history/mosc ... ral-giant/)

Thank you very much in advance,
Alexander

Try out this simple trick:

If you stand next to the blocks and sneak and jump at the same time you can climb up and down.
You can make really nice designs with that:

PS : I think this should be moved to General Discussion.

I would guess that mesecons pistons don't try to push the player, not sure though.

Thank you very much, cd2, for the interesting suggestion!
In fact, I've never came across this 'climbing'-effect, I think (which is kind of embarrasing, because I play this game for at least 4 years now...) :-s

But, unfortunately, it does not solve the issue sufficently. The minecrafters can make buttons, 'call' elevators, and get lifted up with their RedStone-constructions!
(See here, for a clear visualization: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E5M1uQKzaic)

On the Piston-issue:
Indeed, they do. Sideways as well as upwards, if you stand right at the edge of an the piston-block and at lease 1 block afar. My guess is, this is unintentional, but I have not investigated the game-code or the object-declarations to be sure.

Does someone know, if Jeija is around and/or would answer such a question?

Thank you very much again,
Alexander

There is also this mod: https://forum.minetest.net/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=14003&hilit=lifters

I imagine it would be possible to add mesecon support, you could always make a feature request.
