Semi-transparent PNG

by BlakkCooper » Sat Jun 30, 2012 03:28

I was wondering if it would be reasonable to fully use the alpha-channel of the PNG graphics. For now its only fully-transparent or non-transparent pixels. In my opinion it would be very nice if, for example, items like a bottle could be semi-transparent.

On a side note: there are also APNG (Animated PNG) that may be used for animated items/textures.

the animated texture for minecraft work with a longer scale of photo. say something like 1280X80 pixels.but it only loads 80x80 at a time moving square by square until the "animation" resets. that would be a very highly detailed animation for the item. but this is probaly how they would have to do it on here to. make it server side. you may have to wait for celeron to add animated texture support.
Keep calm and code python^_^

Um, I think he was asking about transparency, not animation; actually minetest now supports longer break animations and has animated texture support, in the nightly builds / latest git. Check out the new animated lava :D
