Minetest Jukebox?

by jordan4ibanez » Tue Oct 04, 2011 00:08

it would be cool if we could have a folder that holds songs like .wavs and ogg's ...and a juke box that we can right click to select a song ..or internet radio stations that are preset and can be changed..and for servers..each persons juke box songs could be uploaded to a juke box folder on the server..and when its selected...could be played for others to hear or just you
If you can think it, you can make it.

Secondary running programms could do that job. Such a feature would only slow down the software itself on low end machines.
Have a look on my minetest screenshots on http://saschakb.tumblr.com
If you would play in my world, fork the datas from https://github.com/saschakb/minetest-world

so what?! have the choice to turn it off or not..you have to make it work before you can say it doesnt work..and this game barely runs on low end machines anyway..like my pcs with athlon 1400 xp ..or my pentium 3 machine..make this game for mid range computers not low end machines..mid level pcs are low level gaming machines..thats why their called gaming machines! to game..if this whole project is designed around being able to run on low end machines this project will not move forward! also..when secondary programs run..like banshee ..it runs a little laggy on my current low level gaming machine...so it would actually perform alot better..if you built it into this game..it would consume less ram than running 2 programs at once..also ive seen plenty of games with built in juke boxes..minecraft ..18 wos..so please reconsider what you said! lol

Ingame jukeboxes are always nice.
And ogg's are very small, so it doesn't have to load a lot of stuff in the background.
For example this 3 songs (Public Domain).
They are just 663,2 KB big and they still have an awesome quality!

By the way, all of the sounds I released into Public Domain are ogg's, too.

Make it easier , like in Second life - just put link on radio/track in jukebox. It will save place on server and help everyone to add music.
