Probably not; .reg files should be run with care, most n00bs wouldn't even use it anyway. Plus, you'd have to tweak the install path of Minetest by hand.

I mean the idea of this. Just clicking a link in FF and then the game opens.

The game as such could need a better handling of servers. Seems it only stores data of the last server contacted. And after installing it you have to figure out which servers ar e up, type in their adress and port by hand etc. And the password has to be typed each time again. Instead of a website with clickable links it would imho be better if the game itshelf would upon klick on multiplayer contact minetest.net, get a list of servers from there and offer them to the player with a short description and a longer one (e.g. mods installed) behind a "details" link/klick. And then connect to the server from ingame. Right now finding and contacting a server with *the version of the game one actualy has* is quite difficult. A new player who just wants to dig and build a bit will most linkely have given up in frustration early on. And that is a pity because it is a great game.

And what is if minetest.net is down?

Cloud server backups :)

Minetest.net Minetest.com and my server could all host the lists.

Let me guess: U play AoS?

Don´t forget the passwords.
Does the batch call work without registry tweaks right now? Didn´t try it out.

registry changes makes links call this:
minetest.bat minetest://example.com:30000

batch file calls this:
minetest.exe --address example.com --port 30000 --go
