Mob Spawner Idea: Dungeon Rings

Many of us I'm sure have seen the random floating squares of stone and mossy stone, just hanging uselessly, ominously in midair. Right now they don't do much of anything. But recently I was on /v/, and we came up with one excellent concept for what to do with them instead of removing them as a glitch.

In lieu of transcribing the thread word for word here, I'm going to host the patched-together screenshot on imgur and place it here for all to see and inspect for themselves.

And that's the long and short of it. What do you guys think?

Well it would be a nice idea to have "Spawning areas" like that but this would give the whole "adventure" feeling a little downer. Creating Monster Grinder and setting the spawn point inside AFTER the creation is not as tingling as building around something "active".
I would suggest the Rings should only be active if naturally occurred and not build by hand.

It is a nice idea though.

Oh, that was the idea. That they would only spawn naturally and activate naturally. Handmade ones wouldn't do anything. Sorry if that wasn't clear.
