Sun and Moon Feature.

Just asking about the Sun and Moon, and if there were any discussion about ever allowing to create textures for them in the near future so they can easily be accessible for texture pack makers out there.
Along with such, a larger Sun and Moon so the details can be seen better. Perhaps an alpha support?
I really would like to add textures for both the Sun and Moon, it's a bummer is can't be done yet.
Also, for those who know, what are the things that need to be done to allow this feature to work?

These are all very exciting features, RealBadAngel. I wish you the best of luck with them.
Would the skydome work like the skybox in FPS games (but be round instead?)

I saw this when he mentioned it on #minetest-dev a few months ago, it is pretty epic.

A round sun and a round moon are more realistic looking.

They will also allow texture packs to set them right?

Uh.... Not yet if that's what you mean. If you actually took the time to read the posts above, you would see that RBA is working on it.

Well, could you please upload this "mod" or tell me at least how to do this? I use Fess win 64bit built, so the src seems not to have any meaning in this case. Thanks in advice...

This is not a "mod". Also, I don't think it is being worked on anymore.

Sun and moon, with properly calculated postions, with textures and behaving as the lighsources will come back soon...

Sorry, not working: No difference. Maybe the rest of my minetest version is too new. Tanks anyway! Are there any other possibilities?

Sorry, but I stay, like you say it in german, a bit on the tube. What built do I need and what else? Can you please upload a constallation of the needed files, or a list? Thanks for your patience.
PS.: What textures do I need to replace for the sky, sun and moon? And where?

What??? I never heared of that. On my laptop I use(d) the normal official minetest 0.4.9 built, on my Desktop PC, I use the latest Fess 64-bit built. Both standartly without the src folder.

I'm trying to create a simple mod of this, but it always tells me that:
Your phone or window isn't wide enough to display the code box. If it's a phone, try rotating it to landscape mode.
- Code: Select all
19:52:51: ERROR[main]: ========== ERROR FROM LUA ===========
19:52:51: ERROR[main]: Failed to load and run script from
19:52:51: ERROR[main]: E:\minetest-0.4.9-dev-win64\bin\..\mods\skybox\init.lua:
19:52:51: ERROR[main]: E:\minetest-0.4.9-dev-win64\bin\..\mods\skybox\init.lua:1: attempt to call global 'set_sky' (a nil value)
19:52:51: ERROR[main]: stack traceback:
19:52:51: ERROR[main]: E:\minetest-0.4.9-dev-win64\bin\..\mods\skybox\init.lua:1: in main chunk
19:52:51: ERROR[main]: ======= END OF ERROR FROM LUA ========
19:52:51: ERROR[main]: Server: Failed to load and run E:\minetest-0.4.9-dev-win64\bin\..\mods\skybox\init.lua
19:52:51: ERROR[main]: ModError: ModError: Failed to load and run E:\minetest-0.4.9-dev-win64\bin\..\mods\skybox\init.lua
My mod looks like this:
Your phone or window isn't wide enough to display the code box. If it's a phone, try rotating it to landscape mode.
- Code: Select all
minetest.after(0,set_sky(nil,skybox,{"a.png","b.png","c.png","d.png","e.png","f.png"}))

Those clouds? Do they look 3d when you fly at their level?
