Mapgen v7?

by SegFault22 » Mon Apr 14, 2014 01:02

I remember seeing some screenshots of beautiful landscapes, with trees, grass and everything, and the poster said that it was Mapgen v7.
If that is true, is there a stable build/release with such available for Ubuntu/Linux? If so, where can it be found?

Mapgen v7 is currently in development, and its not stable enough to be used yet.
Its actually in the last few stable releases already.

Thank you for the information. How would it affect a world already created in Mapgen v6, to start using Mapgen v7 when it is stable? Or is that even possible?

Its not recommended. You would cause cliffs being generated between block borders.

I see. I'll have to use one of Paramat's world generators, I guess.

You can use MGV7 if you want but there's only stone, no biomes added, have you tried it yet? the terrain and rivers are beautiful. You can use various peoples mods and games that add their own biomes to MGV7, my paragenv7 does that, PilzAdam's Nodetopia game, Jordach's BFD game, the Ethereal mapgen mod.
Our mapgen dev hmmmm is unsatisfied with it and is about to rewrite the terrain generation, the biome API will remain don't worry but may change slightly.

Cool. I'll use your paragenv7 mod, it looks awesome.
