Option to place object like ladders in your place

It is great that you can't place a block where you stand, so you can't get "lost" in it. But for some smaller/flatter objects that is very annoying, like ladders or torches.

It would be great if some nodes are excluded from the new placement rule.

I was just playing some of HerooftheWind's Skytest game. I could place a torch where I was standing. I think it has to do with whether or not you can walk through whatever you are trying to place as to whether or not it gets placed.

Basically all nodes that are not walkable should be excluded. Can anyone think of any examples of nonwalkable nodes that you should not be able to place where you are?

@lightonflux: Ladders and torches already can be placed where you stand.

In fact, these minetest_game nodes are are all examples of passable nodes; all of them can be placed where I stand:
  • Sign
  • Torch
  • Apple
  • Ladder
  • Dry Shrub
  • Grass
  • Jungle Grass
  • Sapling
  • Jungle Sapling
  • Flowers
  • Papyrus
  • Rail
  • Wheat (node)
  • Cotton
  • Gun Powder

I see no problem here.

@rubenwardy: I can’t.

Oh sorry, didn't noticed that carbone replaced the default ladder. In minetest_next the normal ladder behaves like you described. Not so in carbone. Will report the bug. :) Thanks Wuzzy
