Placing Block Under Yourself

I have been playing a game recently that is a voxel game but isn't minecraft (have never played it) and they have a neat workaround for placing a block where you are standing. When you right-click to place the block where you are standing, the block is placed and your character jumps. I find this to make placing blocks beneath myself a LOT easier and seems better than requiring me to jump and timing the block placement perfectly. I think this should probably be implemented in minetest as it is better than just stopping the block placement.

EDIT
Sorry, i just realised jump speed was indeed returned to it's previous value recently.

That isn't really what he was talking about, although it is related. He is talking about the player jumping up automatically when a block is placed at their feet. I like this idea. You would have to make sure that the don't bump their head. If the can't jump, you would still need to block the placement.

Yup, rubenwardy has it right. I don't think the check for a block over their head would add hardly anything to the processing speed and shouldn't slow the game at all.

Players are used to that. Not beeing able to place a block where you stand is just one thing: terribly annoying for people who build with nodeboxes. It is also annoying when pillaring up in order to build upper parts of a house. At least the code can be edited so that Minetest works again.

The inability to easily pillar up is definitely noticed and felt, coming from minecraft. I think I'd personally prefer that it just be 'fixed' (made more minecraft-like, but I can't think of any major problems with having an auto-pillar option as well (when placing blocks below you automatically move you on top of it).
