falling damage damping on various surfaces

by rubberduck » Tue Aug 19, 2014 05:50

my idea is to add fallign damage damping to various surface.

some blocks that could have a smaller amout of damping:

grass, snow, leaves, soil, sand, clay

and blocks with a higher damping:

grass under water, wet soil, snow block, wool

The engine offers this option called fall_damage_add_percent. In Voxelgarden it is used for leaves and wool, and reduces the damage by 10%.
Minetest_game could add this very easily if someone would make a pull request.

This however won't work if you land on the side of a block (which means you land partially in air and also can't jump).

I can reproduce the part that you can not jump, but the damage is still reduced (tested with -100). With what kind of node have you experienced this? Could it be that is has some other special properties?
