by Semmett9 » Sun Jan 19, 2014 23:38

minetest seems to crash when i load or close a map randomly. it dose this with both my computers.

  • When the game crashes when it says "crating server" or "shutting down stuff"
  • the game mostly crashes when i open the same world 2 times or when i exit out of the world.

Computer 1
Windows 7 64bit
Minetest 0.4.9
the default gamemode

Computer 2
Windows 7 32bit
Minetest 0.4.9
the default gamemode

The debug.txt is below

After looking at your debug.txt, it seems to be caused by a faulty audio driver. Consider updating your drivers.
7:42 PM - Bauglio: I think if you go to staples you could steal firmware from a fax machine that would run better than win10 does on any platform
7:42 PM - Bauglio: so fudge the stable build
7:43 PM - Bauglio: get the staple build

Maybe is OpenAL missing? Or as hoodedice already said, update your audio driver.

hmm i would agree but on my other computer (my main computer) the game also crashes when i connect to a server for after playing single player. i have checked my audio driver and its up to date.

as well as this the game mostly crashes before it connects to the server so its something wrong with the client

It only crashes on 0.4.9

I understand where your coming from about errors with the audio,

Also the audio seems is fine in the game.

this is on computer 1 seen above

thanks

Your phone or window isn't wide enough to display the code box. If it's a phone, try rotating it to landscape mode.
Code: Select all
17:26:00: INFO[main]: Audio: Initializing...
17:26:00: INFO[main]: Audio: Vorbis extension NOT present

What does this mean?

Well, you should try to get a ogg vorbis support for your OpenAL.
EDIT: Or test another build...

What we mean to say is that maybe a change or update in the OGG file type used while compiling may be the reason for these crashes, and they may be caused by audio drivers. If your drivers are indeed the latest, you may want to ping PilzAdam or ShadowNinja on the IRC
