[Multiplayer] Anyone else experience this before?

by bru » Thu Oct 16, 2014 22:30

I've been playing on a server called 'Clip's Server' or something like that quite a bit lately. I've had no problems while playing and made a pretty cool base and am finally starting to be able to get into the more fun stuff like teleportation pads and stuff.

So I log off, and then come back on and this happens:
- World doesn't fully load
- Blocks take minutes to break/don't break at all
- Chest interaction is delayed by about 45 seconds.

My friends don't have this issue, and I assume nobody else on that server have the issue either since I asked if anyone was encountering any lag or anything and they said no.

Here's what my console looks like:

What I have tried:
- Logging on with a VPN and nothing changed
- Using clean installs of the game, test builds, etc.
- Using the default texture pack
- Logging on with a different name
etc

I don't feel like it would have to do with my connection since it has been happening for a few days and my internet speed has been the same throughout (~50down, ~10up)

Anyone encounter this before? It's not happening on any other servers for me either, just this one.

bru: try unticking ALL of the settings in the Setting tab before connecting to Clip's server... also you could add the following line to your minetest.conf file to disable logging:

debug_log_level = 0

...which may speed up disk access... Also what Os are you using and are the gfx drivers up to date ?

The lag/delays are caused by a laggy connection (or slow server (or both()));
And those texture warnings are totally normal someone forgot to change or add those textures.

For some reason this seemed to fix it. Thanks.
