Server crashes (segmentation fault) - corrupted world?

by kingtux » Mon Jul 16, 2012 18:17

I had a minetest server that I used with a couple of friends. I had a mese tnt dam and one of my friends hit one of the mese tnt blocks, so I quickly ended the server to give me time to fix the problem. I backed up the world. I edited the nuke mod so the mese tnt wouldn't blow up. When I started the server in that world again, it crashed (segmentation fault) extremely easily and after restarting the server a couple times, the world was reset (player info was fine, but everything man-made went away) and sometimes (I kept reverting to the backup to try to fix the problem) there was a chunk of stone with ores inside and a layer of sand on top. This problem seems to be caused by a corrupted world. Any help?

When you connect to an home-hosted server that is on your computer, use "127.0.0.1" to connect, NOT an empty address.
Also, you can report bugs on Github, here.

Maybe try setting "ignore_world_load_errors = true"? And could you post the server's last output?
