Going form 4.6.2 to 4.7

by jasonjames » Tue Jun 18, 2013 21:52

I just downloaded 4.7 and have been playing on 4.6.2 for a month or so. How do I transfer my world to 4.7. I tried moving the worlds folder but that didn't seem to work.

Moving world folders is actually the right way.

any ideas why it does not show up in single player. The world is listed under advanced and server but not in single player.

Try clicking one of the icons on the lower left corner of the Minetest window, to select the game mode that your world goes with.

Check the world.mt file inside your world's folder, look for the "gameid = " line near the top. If it says "survival" or "build", change it to "minetest" as those two have been re-combined into the main game. Then restart the program and try to access your world again.

If it isn't "survival", "build", "minetest", or "minimal", then it's for a third-party game. In that case, do not change the line at all. Instead, go get the latest version of the game mentioned there, or copy it over from your previous install.

Restart Minetest after making any of these changes.

I just created a new world and it shows up in the singleplayer window. It also created a new folder in the Worlds folder that I transfer but my previous world that is also in that folder does not show up as an option on the singleplayer world selection area of minetest. Any ideas what I am doing doing wrong or failing to do?

That was the problem, I changed it from survival to minetest and now it works fine. Thanks for the info.
