FOSS gamedev and creative worlds

With the latest official version found at minetest.net, there exists a sound bug where sometimes it is only played on the left speaker sometimes, whereas most of the time it plays on both. It appears to happen randomly.
It becomes very annoying if the user is wearing headphones.
Are there any fixes?
