Momentary frame drops when mining or placing nodes

After having held down either mouse button for several minutes, it appears that mining or placing any more nodes at the Y level of the block the player is standing on will induce a momentary dropping of several frames, whose combined duration is about as long as either wield animation. This is considerably annoying, most notably because it decreases one's ability to build or break large amounts of nodes in a reasonable amount of time.
This was discovered using Minetest 0.4.10, downloaded straight from minetest.net. It is unknown whether or not this issue has existed in previous versions, but it is possible.
Has anyone else been having this kind of issue, and is there a known way to circumvent or fix the problem?

I experience frame drops on wield animation sometimes.

Know this since I played Minetest the first time. It's annoying.

Well it good to hear that I'm not the only one who is having this problem. Fps drop by doing like every action such as opening door, breaking blocks, worlds loading, and so on... Perhaps it because MT only uses one of my CPU? In task manager it shows 1 of the CPU/core nearly maxing out all the time...
