Cannot enable f12 and other things like that

Can someone please help me out because I cannot enable f7 f2 f1 all of those things because I'm on a HP Pavilion Windows 8.1 if anyone has this problem and have fixed it please help me out and also I don't thing I have a file/paper to take screenshots or maybe I do but don't know where it is and I know it's on false and f2 f7 those things are on false to

Some laptops require you to press Fn + F12 instead, where Fn is the Function key.

@Calinou Fn is used for special functions, having even it's own driver/software example:
If yoou press Fn+F10 in my laptop, you disable the touchpad, but if you only press F10 ''nothing'' happends (of course this depends in the software )
