I'm new so I'm not really sure where is the right place to put this sooo...

I was wondering whether or not you could update minetest without updating your whole computer. Or if I have to download the new versions every time. Because right now I have 0.4.8 and I would like the updates.

you have to download each version of minetest (or you use an unstable version also).
there is no automatic update function yet.

Which OS are you using?

If on Windows, just download the latest release ZIP.

On Linux it depends on the package manager. For Ubuntu, use the Daily PPA (for bleeding edge development versions), or the Releases PPA (for stable releases).
