FOSS gamedev and creative worlds

I installed minetest from the main ubuntu repo, but it was an old version and all of the non-default games (ones that I aded myself) had error messages and wouldn't launch.

So I added the minetest ppa and installed the latest version. Now none of the games show up.
I checked and the games are still under /usr/share/games/minetest/games/
How do I fix it?

try moving them to /home/username/.minetest/games/
