Separate Error with memory..

I have no idea on how to fix this. I do not get these errors running 4.12 and I have PLENTY of ram. Why does this happen? This makes me want to go back to version 4.10 just so I can play my game, but some of the mods are not compatible.

This appears to be a mod problem, the mods aren't using noise parameters properly.

0.4.13 added checks to try and stop problems caused by this.

rubenwardy: can you give an example of bad noise params please ?

*wonders if Ethereal is ok*

pathv6alt has an error in 2D noise use that consumes extra memory, replace line 176 with:
Your phone or window isn't wide enough to display the code box. If it's a phone, try rotating it to landscape mode.
Code: Select all
local chulens = {x=overlen, y=overlen, z=1}

I need to update this mod and a few others with this change.

You can try contacting the mod's authors, perhaps they know more. As a hotfix, try disabling them. Also, there is no 4.13 version of minetest (yet), its 0.4.13.

New version of pathv6alt released with further optimisation of noise.

Let me guess - one of those "new checks" to "stop problems" was the one that prevents ipairs() from being able to read number values from tables, right?

I have maps I can no longer play since I updated to 0.4.13. Seems to me if I could revert back to 0.4.12 everything would work as it should. I can disable the animals mod and it runs fine. I'm just going to starve to death. :)
Here's my error messages:

ModError: Failed to load and run /home/mycomputer/.minetest/mobs/animals/mobf_settings/init.lua
Error from lua:
/user/share/.minetest/builtin/game/register.lua:392:table index is nil

[C]: in function dofile
/home/mycomputer/.minetest/mods/animals/mobf_settings/init.lua:26: in main chunk
check debug.txt file for details

DEBUG.text file:
19:38:56: ERROR[main]: GUIFormSpecMenu::drawMenu() Draw images unable to load texture:
19:38:56: ERROR[main]: /home/mycomputer/.minetest/textures/base/pack/no_screenshot.png

19:38:56: ERROR[main]: /home/mycomputer/.minetest/textures/base/pack/no_screenshot.png
(this repeats for scores of lines)

Then :
19:44:14: ERROR[main]: mod "animal_chicken" has unsatisfied dependencies: "mobf"
19:44:14: ERROR[main]: mod "animal_clownfish" has unsatisfied dependencies: "mobf"
19:44:14: ERROR[main]: mod "animal_cow" has unsatisfied dependencies: "mobf"
(and etc for each animal mod.)

Then:
19:44:14: ERROR[main]: mod "mobf" has unsatisfied dependencies: "adv_spawning"
19:44:14: ERROR[main]: mod "mobf_settings" has unsatisfied dependencies: "mobf"

It seems like a path error to me, but the folder paths worked in 0.4.12.
I'm not real practiced in editing lines of code and compiling, so I'll check around and see if there's an easier fix for me that will allow me to still use the animals mod.

This is sort of an FYI, since I see I'm not the only one experiencing issues with 0.4.13.

It's a great game!

Ok, here's a fix that I did:

In /.minetest>mods>animals>mobf_settings>init.lua I found this line:

dofile (modpath .. DIR_DELIM .. "settings_v3.lua")

I changed it to:

dofile (modpath .. DIR_DELIM .. "settings_v2.lua")

and that makes the maps load and run that would not after the upgrade to 0.4.13.

However it says "cannot load image 'default_pinetree.png' while building texture" so I'm checking that out.

I'm also having problems. half my mods no longer work together and even running plain i get this odd instance in the v7 mapgen where there is no ambient light, even during the day. Forget using ethereal or paragen7. I wish I could revert to .12, because updating was a serious mistake.

In Minetest Game 0.4.13 pine nodes have been renamed to default_pine_tree.png, default_pine_tree_top.png and default_pine_wood.png. Ask the mod author for an update.

I'd be interested in a screenshot of that.

Remember that it's up to mod developers to keep up with the latest version of MT, if they don't then their mod quickly becomes outdated and doesn't work.
