Not sure if it is a bug or feature, I've noticed it at least in 0.4.13. You can penetrate any 1 block ceiling by climbing below it with SHIFT-SPACE trick.
Examples, here you can climb through ceiling by holding SHIFT+SPACE near block-space-block structures.

I've noticed that too, and so have my friends.
