i don't know exactly how the mapgen works, but basically there are parameters like "persist", "offset" and "octaves".
from my understanding, the terrain is shaped by a mathematic function that defines the shape for x, y and z axis and then it gets randomized to appear less artificial and more unique.
that means that the terrain gets twisted and bended into the final shape.
so i guess if you reduce the value of the parameters that affect that randomness, you get less extreme cliffs.

Your phone or window isn't wide enough to display the code box. If it's a phone, try rotating it to landscape mode.
Code: Select all
mgv7_np_height_select = -12, 24, (500, 500, 500), 4213, 6, 0.7, 2.0

Divide the first 2 numbers by the same amount, for example try -6, 12 or -4, 8 or -3, 6 for more gentle cliff slopes.
