I'm not sure if anyone else has had this problem but, I just realized that I no olnger have "default steel" nor a "default steel ingot" when I do a /giveme steel command, it says "steel ingot added to inventory" but, what was added is actually a wrought iron ingot? There is no default steel block nor default steel ingot what so ever in inventory, even though the .png images are in the texture file and are both worded correctly. This has me stumped
I did have default steel ingot and block before but have just realized it is gone and I am clueless as to why or how?
Can anyone help with this?

You probably have technic installed.

There is alias to make default steel wrought iron. it is all good.

I think this should be changed so that technic can be installed and still have default steel, rather than having it replaced. Would this not just be a matter of registering the aliases as their own nodes?
Anyway, yep, sure would be nice to be able to have both. I'm a want my cake and eat it too kinda guy. Seems senseless to have cake and not eat it..., just sayin'

Well, I just went through and made changes so I have my cake and eat it too :D
If I were any good at coding I would see if it could be offered as an alternative-technic so the user can have default steel, block, ingot, and related items, as well as have the wrought iron and stainless steel attributes but, as I am not so good at lua, I wound up removing the crafting recipes (which I don't really use anyway), but I know they are supposed to be in there for people who like to craft.
Anyway, I'm all set now, I fixed my issue to my own satisfaction. I love the technic mod and I am very grateful for those who created it and contributed to it, I just wanted a way to be able to use technic yet still have the default steel attributes intact.
If anyone else is interested in the changes I made just say so in this thread and I can upload the file if there are no objections. I am very new here and definitely do not wish to do something not allowed nor to offend anyone. And I will of course have to add the names/creds to those who put this nice mod together for people to enjoy

I would just say that, this is an alternative to the technic mod, but is only based one 1 tool, that have many modes :-)

It reminds of the laser gun + drill, but much more
There is a moderator + admin version, chargerbox, controller (easier to change modes for touch units + is a battery)
The tools also have their own gui to change modes, and read info how to use them.

Modes in v3.1:
PlaceDig x,z front (like drill mode1)
Replace z,x (works like same, but replacing)
Placedig y
Autoswith (using nodes from more slots on the hotbar)
Teleport (yourself or an object)
Massice PlaceDig (N*N*N)
Gravitygun
Flashlight (works on water, and turns of in daylight)
Copy (can copy / place the basic constructs)
