I played a bit and recognized this bug and now I'll follow PilzAdam's steps:

1. I didn't find anything reported about this bug.
2. Informations about the bug:
   • The bug is reproducible.
   • • To reproduce the bug, the chat has to be full. If you press open chat, the first line, you've written mustn't be seen anymore.
     • If you now write anything in console(F10), close it and open normal chat(T) or if you write anything in normal chat and open console, you will see the uppermost of the recorded chat.
     • If you want to write anything now seeing the lines, written while you write your message, you have to scroll the whole way down each time, the bug happens.
   • My operating system is not interesting about this bug.
   • I used the newest dev version of Minetest.
   • I used the minetest_game, but it should be at each game.
3. I created this topic.

The game doesn't crash because of this bug, so I can't show you anything from my debug.txt.
The bug is very inconvenient, I hope, it gets fixed soon.
The bug only works with new chat.

I can confirm.

In the meantime, I got a way to make the chat scroll with you for at least some minutes until it happens again:
Open chat, hold page down key until you reach bottom, when you reach the bottom, use the scroll wheel on your mouse and try to scroll down even more. Now it shoul "work properly" again.
Same with console.

BTW another problem with this new chat is that I can't copy stuff from it anymore

So, this problem gets ignored?

The problem is not ignores. They are trying to fix it. It has been reported on github and the devs are aware of the issue. Please give them time to correct the issue.

I noticed this problem too.
To scroll down faster, use the 6-keys-block above the arrow keys. Press "Page Down" until you've reached the very bottom. This saves a lot time of scrolling ;)

Do what Krock says, and then when you are at the bottom, use the mouse wheel and try to scroll even more, that way the problem solves itself for some minutes.

It is known issue, there was some code from kahrl to fix that but it was not merged.

Happens to me too. (Minetest-0.4.13-dev-c3993f6; mingw32-make)
Hope they do it fast. :D
