Singleplayer is lagging sometimes

Sometimes I have the problem that the game laggs if I punch an animal from mobs redo. I punch a chicken and it takes about a second until it is dead. And if I click on the dropped meat it may also takes a second until it is picked up

I'm using the current dev of minetest and the latest mobs redo from github. Any suggestions?

Minetest can be quite laggy on slower hardware (especially if you have a lot/heavy mods installed)

So I guess your options are to play on a better machine, or with fewer mods.

I have a 2.8Ghz Quadcore with 16GB Ram and a GTX750 graphicscard and I think that I don't have "lot/heavy" mods. I will keep an eye on this, but I don't think it's my hardware

Check out you don't have so many processes on when you play Minetest that can make it laggy!

How can I find out which Mods need most time?

Simply, if have many nodes, meshes or very much and big textures, make your game laggy!

I prefer to left my worlds "vanilla" mostly time, simply is better, but if you in really want mods, search more light alternatives to the current mods you use...

(i understand you are writing about how to know which mods gives more lag)

Well, minetest game itself is boring. If a few mods are too much then there is something wrong with the game.

If you want a playable game you HAVE to add mods

Many nodes won't be a problem. Mods which update meta data a lot or change nodes a lot will cause massive reductions in fps, such as technic and mesecons.

Click F5 twice until the graphs appear.
Send us a screen shot so we can see the packet flow.

This is likely to be a minetest core bug. Any info you can give will be helpful.

Fps was not the problem. The game runs, depending in the scene, between 30 and 60 fps.

But interacting with objects is sometimes lagging. For example: I hit a chicken, it dies a second later. And it takes another second until The meat drops. And than it takes a second from clicking the meat until it is in the inventory.

a few days ago I installed a drop & pick mod. Sometimes it takes a second to drop a digged item and than it takes a second after I walked over the the item to appear in the inventory.

But that does not happen every time. I can play then without any noticable lag

That happen sometimes, when the game needs to load or generate many stuff, then you have "lag of inventory" (or how i call it!)
You say the game runs 30-60 Fps, maybe it's because the simple fact that the game isn't loading the data so well, i don't know what you can do, maybe try to don't install so many mods, that can make the game don't load the data so well, maybe it can make you don't have FPS lag, but that can make you have "inventory lag" that's why the servers in the possible don't have so many mods, if a server have many mods, simply that server will be laggy!
