Installed this via homebrew, and it opens up fine, and can see the stratup menus and such, but when I start a game, the world is barely visible, like there is a deep blue shading to everything, and i can move for about 2 seconds and then no movement whatsoever. Anyone know what the deal is? How can I fix this?

You're likely inside blocks.

push F9 - look at the minimap

punch with left mouse click? can you dig yourself out?

push 'h' and 'k', can you see and move through blocks?

Okay, /teleport 0,0,0, got all black, and started pickaxing through the darkness, and placed a torch. Realized the entire world is cobblestone blocks. I kept telporting to random coordinates, but it was still all cobblestone everywhere.

What? How do I get a randomly generated world?

You could have hit a bug. Did you install mods? What mapgen did you choose? Did you try teleporting to a higher elevation? e.g. 0,1000,0 (and then fall down if in air).

mgv6, mgv7 or valleys are the usual mapgen choices to get random worlds. You should not get a world full of cobble with those.

What version/build of minetest did you use?

Make sure you're running the latest version of Minetest Game, and not Minimal Development Test.
When creating a world, it will ask you what subgame you want. Pick Minetest.

Thanks, guys, but I gave up on this. It was too buggy, and for some reason once I start bashing blocks, I stop moving . Great effort, but really needs some work.

Cheers

Your feedback is valuable.

You're using 0.4.13, which was released almost a year ago. We don't test 0.4.13 anymore, but are working on development builds. Just like any open source project, we *know* that there are bugs in older versions. We're actually in the process of making a new release. You can help by downloading a recent development build for your OS and trying there (check the "builds" section of the forum, for instance).

The bug you're reporting has probably been fixed ages ago.

Heh it works fine for most players, we would like to find out what your problem is.

Your first screenshot looks like deep underwater or inside a water cave, perhaps an incorrect spawnpoint.
Please try enabling fly (after '/grant singleplayer all') and noclip and flying upwards to the surface. Also the co-ordinates of your spawn point are useful to know (F5).
Let us know if you are using any mods or any custom configurations in .conf.
Are you using singleplayer or connecting to a remote server? Singleplayer is the one to try first as there is less to go wrong.

Still possible to dig around me and move the camera. But character stuck on the floor.
Mac Os X el capitan, downloaded with Homebrew. Last version of Minetest (may 2016).

Great work btw bcs runs very well on my old macbook late 2008 !
If you have any clue...
