[0.4.14]Chat spamming with error messages

Hello
I've got to report a bug with the the 0.4.14 version. Everytime I do something, such as digging, placing, (punching?), etc it generates several error messages, and instead of just having them in the debug window, it spams the chat full of 'em! For example, when I am mining in a multiplayer server, and talking, the chat gets flooded with error messages at such a high speed that anything anyone says just flies up. I've even tried going to advanced options and disabling show debug. It is really annoying. Can you please help me?

Can you copy/paste your debug file here, so we can see exactly what errors are occurring?

I created a new debug file, just so you don't have to go through the alienizing ordeal that I went through.

Well, it says right away that there's a problem with your system's opengl installation. I suspect it's either too old or not correctly installed. That's more of an Irrlicht library and/or operating system problem. I see that you're running windows. Have you done anything to your video drivers lately? (I'm assuming it was running previously.) Maybe you should update them.

It worked on 0.4.13, but not now?
I have not done anything with my video drivers that I remember in 6 years. Can you please tell me how to update it and whether it is free or paid? Or, at least, how to stop the CHAT spam?

OpenGL 1.2 is almost twenty years old, so unless your computer is even older than mine (in which case, you really shouldn't be running windows), you should have it already. Take a look at this page, especially the links to the video drivers, and see if it helps:

In the unlikely case that you can't get support for your computer, you might consider trying a livecd of linux, to see if it works better.

As far as the OpenGL problem goes... I had this problem when I upgraded to Win10. My personal builds could not correctly identify the OpenGL version on my kid's older hardware (six year old stuff) but worked just fine on my personal new hardware. If I built Minetest on my much older hardware under ArchLinux it would work fine on all rigs. Also, sfan5's and krocks builds worked fine too. I never figured out why and even reverted the old rigs video drivers a few times with increasingly older versions. It has since corrected itself so I figured the problem was an issue with the combo of gcc/msys2/win10. So, after this way too long story... Try sfan5's and/or krock's builds and see if that fixes the OpenGL problem.

I'll tell you what. The chances are, I "don't have" OpenGL, so I'm running 1.1. At least, that's what I came up with from the error messages and site info.
Just, anyway to stop the error messages from being on the CHAT? I see no graphics problem, aside from anything I already saw in 0.4.13, and none except the spam. I'm ok to just have the problems if it is that complicated to fix and that I've run previous versions with outdated OpenGL, but just have the error messages spam debug window instead of my freaking chat like a hacker.

It's not that complicated. You go to the builds forum and download one of the latest of one of the two builds, Krock's or sfan5's, you can't miss them. Unzip and run. If all is well then great, if it's not then it is back to figuring out excessively more complicated stuff.

If you only want to prevent the errors, change the render to Direct3D in your minetest.conf setting:
Your phone or window isn't wide enough to display the code box. If it's a phone, try rotating it to landscape mode.

video_driver = direct3d9


Using a different build will not solve this OpenGL problem. Check for Windows updates and the most recent video card driver because it looks like no proper driver is installed yet. (Current driver visible in the Device Manager)

I declare, Minetest version 0,4.14 has been the RUIN of me! I wish I'd never updated; everything worked so fine!
@Krock Error still comes, but at a slower rate. Doesn't stop completely.

This version seems surprisingly riddled with real, annoying bugs! This, and the case where when afk people die, they get stuck in a loop and spam chat with death messages!
