Can't use direct 3d in 0.4.14

I can't get minetest 0.4.14 to use direct 3d instead of OpenGL, has anyone else had this problem? and/or know how to fix it?
Both the settings and config file have direct3d9 as the video driver, but when I start the game, it is slow(as if using openGL), and the top left corner of the window has "Minetest [OpenGL 2.1.0]".
I'm using Windows 10, and I don't have the problem with 0.4.13 or 0.4.12.

For unknown reasons the official minetest builds does not have support for Direct3D (They are somehow compiled on a linux system). If you want direct3D support use a build that is compiled with MSVC. Like Krock's (x32) or mine (x64)

Sadly there are no more builds with MSVC available, but I hope the next official Minetest version will be build with MSVC again.

You shouldn't use directx3d, it doesn't work as well with MT as ogl

What happens is that Windows and Micro$oft only uses DirectX when it's about 3d Graphics...
So I don't think is something strange, that any game with OpenGl go Slooooow...
That happens to me too, for some reason Minetest goes so fast in Linux, but in Windows is very, very slow...
Micro$oft doesn't want you be free... It only wants that you use his products...

There are OpenGL games out there that perform just fine on Windows, like any id Tech 5/6 game out there (such as the 2016 Doom).

On-topic: Direct3D is not really supported by Minetest anymore, and you won't be able to use shaders with it. There are known performance bottlenecks in Minetest on Windows (at least on the client), but nobody seems to know how to fix them yet.

Minetest in Linux with OGL, is faster than Windows with DX9 for me. So it's just Windows that is slow

Try to dualboot with a light Linux distro! So your computer doesn't get too "full" or "slow"...
I did the same, since that "dualbooting" i never play Minetest with Windows, as well Puppy Linux runs kinda great the game, the 0.4.14 never gives me lag, unlike Windows :D
But, hey, be careful if you do that! ;)
I say you about "dualbooting" 'cause i guess you need Windows Software for stuff likely school, work, etc... So you don't loose your Windows, and you don't have to continue with the lag when playing Minetest!

^I've actually done that already, on porteus, minetest is much much faster.
I might try puppy linux though, since I can't get porteus to work very well.

Try 6.3!
I had troubles with resolution, but that was because my VGA wasn't working so well...
This'll work with your Computer, if in my old laptop did (R.I.P... I decided to open it and sell some pieces for quick-money, not so much but i'm ok with that amount i got) and didn't got any problems...
The best part is that you can easily install it with this: https://www.mediafire.com/?5ah0d0rzcz5cc
You can download the .exe to install or as well use Lick...
But if you want you can use the ISO to install too. there isn't any problem, justly i did with .exe installer 'cause i had no CD's...
