Water

by Lelix » Thu Apr 26, 2012 16:33

Hello, I found a problem while I was creating an adventure map: when building with blocks under the water and create an empty house, the water does not disappear but continues to exist. The only solution I found is that you have to put the cubes and then destroy.

perfeclty logical. you build four walls one after another, how do you expect the water to be pumped out on its own?

...But he has no source, logically should disappear slowly...

water (like land) is a node....each water node will expand to a certain limit (unless it has nothing stopping it under it) and will do so unless you remove the water node....so building a structure underwater you have to destryo every single water node (which isnt fun of course) to have no more water in your underwater building

sucks but thats the way it is :p
I like to debate.

So hopefully that will improve

If the water is a full cube, then water will come out of that, this also happens the same way for lava, since if half filled water touchs a full node, it will hit 3 quarters, and 3 quarters go into a new source block.

Could someone create a mod that would clear all surrounding water nodes until it hits a barrier? Could be an object like a mese sponge that you place in underwater and activate. Then check for surrounding water nodes and clears them, then checks the cleared nodes and repeats.

Obviously something like this could be devastating in an open setting, so maybe put a cap on it so it would only complete x number of iterations.

I just don't think I would fully appreciate my 2500 block underwater dome if I didn't have to clear out the water block by block, though at the time I was building it I wished I could clear it out easier for sure. The same with my 8 story 20x20 underwater skyscraper (groundscraper, I guess).
