Making 0.4 Faster

by Crafter » Thu Apr 26, 2012 23:14

I have recently (tried) to switch to minetest 0.4 and noticed that it ran nearly as slow as Minecraft. Is there anything I can do to make it run faster?

no clue...minetest isnt supposed to be this slow...its fast in earlier versions but these new versions are really slow/laggy and/or ever time i try to put a block down there is a 10-20 second delay and sometimes it dosnt even register the block placing....very frustrating :l

as to how you can make it run fast idk...switch to a lower version and/or ask in the feature discussion that it be worked on to speed it up....other then that i got no clue :l
I like to debate.

yea some of the more experienced game modders...dont really know all of them but DeathDealer is one...Sfan5 is a moderater of the forum but i dont know if he writes game code and some others (im bad at remebering names :l) you just have to wait till someone responds to this thread and/or contact them yourself

or you can contact celeron55 at his gmail account...dont know if he has the time to read the msg and respond but you can try :p

no you can edit your Minetest.conf to load one chunk at a time and only when you get so close. you cant make you minetest run at 60 fps optimized fully.

like this

max_simultaneous_block_sends_server_total = 1
max_block_send_distance = 10
max_block_generate_distance = 10
time_send_interval = 3500 <-- (this helps alot for some reason)

just add this stuff to your minetest.conf file
