I can use minetest with my mouse, but whenever I touch my laptop's touchpad, the camera points straight down constantly.

This isn't a bug in the game, it sounds more like a trackpad driver issue or a faulty trackpad.

I can use Minetest perfectly fine with both mouse and trackpad, have you made sure you have the latest drivers for your laptops trackpad?
