Stuck at border of the World

On a local server I teleported near the border of the world. 30990/0/0 is fine, can see another row of blocks towards X, then just the far mesh, But as soon as I walk to 30990.5/0/0 get stuck. Moving is no longer possible. Enabling free_move helps to get free again. Same effect at 0/0/-30975, 0/0/30990 and with the floor at 0/-30975/0. I did not try the other borders.

Minetest-c55 0.2.20110922_1, compiled from source on Linux. Local server from the same source running a new map.

isn't this how its meant to work?

When you teleport are you ending up in the ground? I thought you could only move through the ground with free_move enabled or are you above ground when you teleport?

If I teleport in the ground I'm stuck. But this is about open space. (Do do the test with the floor at 0/-30975/0 I teleported down there and made a cave to place some torches and walk around normally). With older versions it was possible to walk next to the end of the map and move away again, now you get stuck there.

Ah in that case It could be down to one of the recent patches that freeze you in unloaded chunks rather than letting you collide with them.

Previously when you walked/flew into unloaded chunks you would just collide with them until it had loaded, meaning you could still move around just not into the unloaded chunk. One of the recent patches changed it so if you hit an unloaded chunk it would freeze you, I took this out of my own compiled version as my mate who is on a slower internet connection was constantly getting stuck in freeze mode.... I personally prefer the original setup where as you just collided with the chunk.

If you compile your own version I can tell you where to edit to stop it from freezing you if you want ^_^

EDIT: Ok I just did a test on my version and I can walk into and away from the end of the map fine, so I'm guessing it is down to that patch.
