Multiplayer/server help?

I've been trying to host a server where only me and my friend can play it but nothing has worked. Yes we have forwarded our ports but we still can't seem to connect. Please please PLEASE do not send me instructions, they only helped in the beginning but they're kind of vague, so can someone tell me how SPECIFICALLY do you enter another persons world. we just wanna build stuff together but we can't connect. In fact i can't connect to any servers
We've also tried Remobo, but that hasn't worked either.
either we're doing it wrong or what. just please help
i'm also using version: 0.4.3
and i use windows
