Playing with the Nouveau driver.

I tried to play at Minetest yesterday with the Nouveau driver for Linux.
I've got a kernel panic after 20 seconds (error about pointer or something...) and I'll gdb it if someone is interested.
I was just wondering if someone here is using Nouveau without problems what's his configuration?

1st of all nouveau does not have hardware acceleration
2nd use official drivers
3rd its just no use of finding out soloution cause if it will run it will lag anyways >_>

1) Nope but you can use Gallium 3D for Nouveau. It worked pretty well with Urban Terror and SuperTux Kart.
2) That's what I'm doing but I just wanted to test Nouveau.
3) No, for at least 20 seconds, Minetest was running very well. So I don't know why it would lag and why this kernel panic happened...

I'll try it again with gdb one of these days...

3) Ohh when i played 1 game with nouveau and it made kernel panic too I rememburz that but i believe the problem is nouveau has bugs and thats just it :|

About your third point, I think it's only Minetest.
Something in the Irrlicht lib or in the game doesn't work because even with the nvidia driver, my computer sometimes freezes and don't have any idea why. It's also the only game which do that.

Beside this, 3D games work pretty well even with the nvidia driver or Nouveau. I keep thinking it's only Minetest but I should try others games which use Irrlicht.

I recently switched to the Nouveau driver and Gallium3D. Minetest works without any problems for me and I don't notice any lag unless I view large areas of map at a time. The game worked fine with the default settings.
I have Arch linux with kernel 3.0.7-1, nouveau 0.0.16_git20110829, and nouveau-dri (the 3D features) 7.11.
