Weird distant texture glitch

When I leave minetest open for a long time, after a while distant textures and some inventory textures glitch:

I've only noticed this in recent git versions of minetest. Leaving and starting a new game fixes it. I'm not sure if it's related, but this has been in the output on startup lately:
