What causes this one?

Idk. I looked into your posts to see what os (operating system) you are using, Windows, Linux, Mac, and for other info, and saw you also had problems installing mods and connecting to a server(s?).

My first thought is you are missing something, maybe you only installed the minimal and not the game? Or do you have an old version of minetest?

It might help if you told us:
- What os are you using?
- What version of minetest do you have installed?
- Do you still have troubles installing mods and connecting to servers (those problems might have completely different reasons)
- Did you ever play a 'normal' game (no bugs/disappearing stuff) in your present set up?

Either an ownership mod or extreme lag could cause this.

You have to give us more info if you ever want this bugs to be squashed.

Also. The anticheat code could be the problem. Use the /set command to set disable_anticheat true
Anticheat often causes *major* lag singleplayer or if you're hosting a LAN server.
